Default 95 Accord AT V6 help

The tranny on my dad's Accord is shifting badly, going from 2-4 in low revs under 30 mph. The tranny fluid was cloudy and had metal in it. Unfortunately the previous owner never took care of the car or serviced it. Hence the problem wasn't evident when we test drove the car. We did all the servicings - plugs, wires, distributor rotor cap, button, timing belt, water pump.

My question is whether or not the transmission is toast. Would changing the tranny fluid and resetting the computer help it? (My thinking is the car wasn't serviced and the pc adjusted for this, now with a full servicing done it needs to be reset in order for it to stop compensating.) I've heard of similar problems before where it was fixed by replacing the igniton coil pack.

Any help is appreciated.
