i think you generally heard from 3rd gen TL owners that owned AUTOMATIC TL's. when u floor automatic tl's, there is a pause because it's downshifting. you shouldnt have a problem with the manual cars.

I hope they made it nice or at least you can change it back to wire easily. My roommate has a V6 Mazda 6 5spd and you can definitely tell the throttle latency. The computer seems to be slow on figuring out what you want to do. Uber suck IMO!

If the guy means the throttle body is now drive-by-wire that means there will be a delay. Manual or Auto.

go to vtec.net

According to a guy driving an 06 said there was such little throttle lag that it surprised him.

If it is drive by wire, there will be a delay reguardless of the tranny type. My friend has a GLI jetta, and you can tell the delay.

There doesn't have to be lag just because it is an electronic throttle. VW programs lag into the throttle control on purpose.

really? Any idea if this is overwritable with vagcom or something like that? Cuz with lag and bigger turbo on my friends 1.8T drive-by-wire delay is killing him.

The S2000 and new Si are purpose built cars, I bet Honda did their homework on both. I'd have a hard time believing that there would be a ton of lag. Personally, I don't like the addition of drive-by-wire, let me drive the damn car, not a computer. I don't see the benefit.

I saw either a 06 S2K today, or one with 06 wheels. Did a triple-take cause I didn't believe what I saw (just cause they aren't in dealerships yet to my knowledge). It had a local dealer tag on it though so I guess one or two has drifted in already?

Wheels don't look nearly as bad in person as in the pics for what it's worth. Too bad I didn't have a camera to take a pic

I agree, I don't like drive by wire systems...but it looks like we will be stuck with them.

The benifit of drive by wire would be better traction control by the ecm since it can actually reduce the amount of air entering the engine and controlling power output better. The manufacturer can also then prevent the owner from full throttle shifting, no more dropping the clutch from redline, less wear on drivetrain components, etc.

Here at my VW dealership me and another tech just bought vag-com since the VW scantools are pieces of ****. I haven't seen anything to modify the throttle response. I have seen some other cool **** like disabeling the EGR.

It can also correct stupid driver inputs, such as lifting with a high steering rate and yaw rate, which would normally result in a spin, the car can instead use throttle and brakes to safely slow the car. Obviously assuming the driver just got scared and lifted, not went in so hot that physics takes over...

That just adds up to inexperience with a RWD car. VSA is for people who can't tell the different between FWD and RWD, and drop-throttle midcorner.

Absolutely, which is most likely what Honda's point was when they made the decision to install it. A lot of these cars get wrecked, anything honda can do to help others avoid accidents is a good move with their safety for all campaign.
