IMO silverstars are more white and provide better lighting than those 'blue' bulbs...but if you want blue bulbs go with piaa bulbs but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. IMO the only way to get an 'hid look' is to get an hid retro; there really is no substitution

I would go with the real HID upgrade. I bought a **** load of those bulbs over the years and HID is the only way to go. I have a 03 accord and my low beams are 9006. You will have to decide if you want brightness or color. Me personally, I wanted both, color and brightness, but the more color you get, the less brightness you have. If you want both, get 6500k to 8000k. I have 8000k and I love mine. Their nice and bright, but still has the color I like. If you want total brightness, get 4500k to 5500k. You can't go wrong with real HID unless you get something like 10,000k. That's all color with minimal brightness.

Now are you saying he should buy an hid kit or do a retro fit?

Well a retro fit would be great, but he can't go wrong either way. I just wouldn't recommend those bulbs with coating on them. Even the expensive ones aren't worth the money If he's looking for true HID. I just have a HID conversion kit on mine, and I'm very satisfied with my light output.

Actually, he can. Just getting a hid 'kit' you tend to blind people with glare and light output is noticably less than a car with a retro.
hid 'kit' = 300
hid retro = 300-400 and its done RIGHT NTM you get choice oem parts (hella, bosch, etc etc)
Most kits now a days are illegal anyways so do it the right way the first time.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I was blinding guys when I first put mine on, but I had to re-aim them at bumber level. I turn them on and got in a friends car and drove down the street, and turned around and drove toward my car with the lights on and it was no different then my gs 400. But i do agree, you may get a little more light with the retro. But it all will work in the end. He just gotta be careful with the kit he buys, because different companies make there kits different which will give you different light outputs. But retro would be great choice too.
I dont really want to get a HID kit. At first thats what i wanted but stock honda reflectors arent focused for HID. cars that have factory HID dont throw the light around, the beam is perfectly focused, if you shine them on your garage door, the beam has a razor edge between light and no light. i dont want to blind anybody, i pretty much just want to look cool. However, if someone can tell me how to do HID conversion the right way im all ears because thats what i wanted in the first place.
Don't your stock lights light up the road. I have an 03 so I know they do. Why do people risk melting wires just to look good, and blind other drivers in the process?
HID does provide better light for greater visibility. If we stuck with things because they worked "just fine" we would still all be driving around with 8x8 square closed beam headlights. And I do believe with a HID kit made by Phillips who makes a lot of OEM HID lights and some Inspire headlights which are made by Honda for HID bulbs no one would be blinded and no wires would be burned up.

They do light up the road just fine, i was just looking to get some cool bulbs for cosmetics, HID is looking less and less appealing. What kind of bulbs can i get that will fit, high quality, and hyperwhite or blue or something?

some people say the silverstars you can get at walmart are great. I repeat, some people. Everyone on this forum has a different opinion on this subject.

If you want a HID kit, then check out ebay. If you want it retrofitted, then go to http://www.customlightz.com
Getting silverstar or piaa is a cheaper alternative, but you can't compare those to OEM 4300K D2S. Simply can't.

I had the super plasmas in my projectors(h3) and they looked sweet. Bluish purple. Too bad the projectors sucked and I put my old headlights back in. Now I wanna get the PIAA super plasmas for a 9006. I need to know if the Super plasma HB is the same as 9006. I keep seeing the HB's advertised as being compatible with 9006 and 9005. But I know those two are a little differnt with the way they connect. Anyways i just wanna know if The HB's are the same as the 9006. But overall the bulbs work well. the aftermarket projectors I had just sucked and tried to use a fog light bulb as a headlight.
Using fog lights for headlights that sounds about right. I wouldn't mess with all that stuff. Just try different bulbs. I've read a lot of stories like this one and melted wires too.

Still not sure though if 9006 is the same as HB
Just FYI, if you get blue looking lights, you're gonna lose light output.
Stick with bulbs that arent painted blue, and stick to within 10 watts of your stock wattage so you won't melt the harness.

wait, i've got a question...Why are you looking into H4 if the 05 accord should be 9006 style, correct me if i'm wrong, but sylvania.com says so?
Check out my thread on HIR bulbs, I wouldnt recommend any other lights besides HiRs for best lighting, silverstars for color, or full HID retrofit.

^ it has several pictures of my car with and without HiR bulbs, you can really notice the difference compared to the 'blue tinted' bulb like the one you're suggesting

Those are the funny looking bulbs right? Onion shaped?
I was looking into those before I got my retrofit. Seemed like a good upgrade from stock, but aren't they pretty expensive? Like $40-60 a bulb? Or maybe it was the pair?
Anyhow, they are definately better than stock.

Yea, those are the funny looking ones.
This guy sells the Toshiba ones instead of the GM ones that blew out alot. THe Dodge dealerships sell them for over 100 a pop, he's selling them for 29.95 each, so I got mine for less than 60 shipped if you count saving 10 cents
But i've had them for a few months now and I have to say they're definitely worth it. Nothing like an HID retrofit, but much better than stock output.
I've got the HiR bulbs in my accord, with the signals and brake lights being LED, and i'm doing an S2k projector retrofit into some Civic headlights while i've got the few years until I buy a new car. I guess i'm becoming a light geek
