Cold Idle in Cooler Weather
Cooler weather's popping up here in the Toronto area and I've noticed that when I start my car in the mornings, it initially idles at 1850-2000rpms. I look at my Apex Commander before I crank it up, and it's showing a reading of 16 degrees celsius for both air intake and water temp. It stays at the 1850-2000rpm range for about 20 seconds before it eventually settles down to normal idle. As far as I can recall, the car should idle around 1500-1600rpms even in the dead of winter.
I have a hunch that my ECU is programmed to idle that high when the water temp is around the 16 degrees but I can't confirm this unless I have it hooked up to the Power Excel software. Thoughts?
