Default IACV valve

some general observations:

according to the helms, to adjust your base idle properly, you unplug the IACV connector and make sure all accessories are off.

when i unplugged it, it didnt seem like it did anything. what would be some possible causes and effects if its defective?

main symptom of bad IACv is bouncing idle. Pull the valve off and clean the screen with a little throttle body cleaner sprayed on a Qtip, then do the reset procedure...

quick question, don't mean to jack the thread... if you unplug the IACV, if it's defective, the car is supposed to die or still idle?

i don't have the helms in front of me, but I think the car's idle shouldn't change if you unplug it and it's bad.. it should be altering the idle..

that is where i was reading it from. your supposed to disconnect the IACV and the idles supposed to drop, the book also said it might die, just restart it, its normal. thats why i was asking has anyone run into you disconnect the plug and it does nothing, is it bad?

I don't know if this line of thinking is correct or not... but the IACV is there for a reason... if you disconnect it and it does nothing, I would assume something is wrong.
