Default questions about ls/vtec

i am planning on doing a ls.vtec with my '96 ls and had a few questions. if i used a '93 vtec head would i have to go to obd1 or could i stay with obd2? and what year ecu would i need? also could i do it myself or do i need to let a shop do it. thanks for the help.

you can definitely do it yourself, buy a helms and give yourself a weekend to do it. You can stay OBD2, just get the proper distributor or you have to cut off an arm on the one you currently have if you want to use that one. I would get an OBD2 GSR ecu, like 96 or 97.
