here are my three slips, what happened?
it was my first drag racing night yesterday and here are the results:
runs go from left(fist) to third(last)
r/t .648 .540 .280
60' 2.583 2.291 2.232
1/8 7.047 10.416 10.489
1/4 16.510 16.691 16.751
mph 82.48 75.48 75.77
this was my first time ever at the track so with some seat time the times will improve. nonetheles i c my 60' improved by my 1/4 worsened. any explanation?
by the way these were runs on a mitsubishi starion, my honda stayed at home that night

Well... you can throw out the first 1/8th mile time of 7.0... that never happened. Must have been a misprint.
P.S. Who even owns a Starion any more?

Ummm... no. F1 cars only have 300 ft. lbs. of torque but they'd own a stock Viper SRT10 with 500 ft. lbs. Gearing, weight, power, torque, and grip (and driver) all play into winning races.
Besides... he was asking why his times worsened with better 60 foots. Something I can't really answer. My only guess would be that you were shifting at a different RPM on the first run as compared to the other two.

OOOORRRR the car was seriously heatsoaked. those things have small front mounts and not alotof room for airflow. if you ran the car pretty soon afterthe time before, the car could be heatsoaked. hotter air = less power= slower 1/4 mile times

It looks alot like an increase in traction, or a loss of power. Was the first run on new tires? Did the air temperature, humidity, or barometer readings change noticably between the runs? Racer minds want to know.

your 60's improved but your 1/8 mile went to hell in a hand basket. are you missing a shift? spinning the tires when you shift? bogging? slipping clutch? something doesn't add up...
not sure what to tell you, there's more to things than just the timeslip...

yeah i know im not experienced drag racer yet, however i know that in the first race i launched at 3k rpms while on the second 2 i launched at 5k rpms. the starion has an lsd rear differential so traction was not a problem
i was guessing that i did not shift at the right rpms in the last two runs
i also think that with more experience and the 60' from the second two runs i could get into 15's
there was about an hour between the first and second run, the third one was a few minutes after the second one, and that day it was not hot (about 65degrees)
thanks everybody for the responses any more ideas or input (tips) are appreciated
