Chassis dyno guys
Do any of you ever record coast down BHP numbers? I know that the Cup and short track guys do to see the friction reductions in changing trans and drive line equip. This comes from a short track team going from 283 WHP to 299 WHP only working with trans seals, diff. seals, low friction diff. bearings, rear axel seals, etc. Coast @ 100mph in std. trim was 25 HP coast @ 100 MPH with the modified stuff was 10.45 HP. This was on a Dynojet 248. Also in adding up the numbers I wonder if this was a 310 BHP engine, the guys doing the test did not know.
When I was in Miami I wanted to try and measure this, but my boss thought it was dumb and wouldn't let me use the dyno (also a Dynojet 248) to do it. I had an open diff B16 tranny, an OEM viscous LSD B16 tranny, and a CTR tranny I wanted to compare.
