02s... That was the last year that I liked the Gixxer body style.

I know that the 750s had an issue with the tranny in 02. There should be a recall on I think it was the shift fork for second gear... Hmm I cant remember exactly what it was but I do remember that the 02s did have some sort of tranny problem. If the linkage isnt disconnected then I would have the dealer look at it. Should be covered under recall. I cant find anything about it on the net, so it may not be a TSB or a recall, which would mean that its a weak part. DO you do alot of wheelies with your bike because those were the guys who had constant tranny issues.

if this problem can be fixed free of charge by the dealer that would make my day. Then i would go for the 1000.

Well check your linkages, make sure everything is all hooked up and they see where you are. I have had things rattle off or losen occationally. If its still a problem, then you can try to take the tranny apart yourself or bring it to a dealer. BUt I would call a dealer tomorrow and check and see if there was a Technical Service Bullitin or a recall. They would know that.
