Default weird things happening to my DX

This morning after my car got warmed up, the radio started acting really funny. It just kinda restarted itself every 1-2 minutes. I'm thinking, "**** this Pioneer!" But then, I looked at my speedo and im in 4th gear at about 2.5-3K RPM going about 60mph, kinda fast right for a mutt DX engine? When I slow down it seems like the Speedo lags a bit to drop. And when it did drop to about 15-0 MPH, it kinda jumped at about 9 MPH to 15 then to 0 really quickly. So as usual, I'm lost. Help

just to throw this in there, it seems like the electrical system is doing some type of "hick up," I think...

I can't really help you on your radio..

However, on your speedo.. I would suggest taking a look at the VSS sensor on your transmission. It's one 10mm bolt, just clean it. 99% of the time, that'll fix the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I'll check that out. Does anyone think that it can be my whole electrical system in general? Somehow, I don't think that this is 2 seperate problems. I think that all of this is caused by one problem. The only problem is finding this source.

Sometimes my CD player will do the same thing.. It'll cut in and out, but I know it's the radio and not my electrical system.

Nope, no radio work. Just a 99-00 climate conversion which is working fine for the past year. Absolutley nothing wrong with it. I notice when the Speedo gauge jumps, the stereo restarts. So it seems like there's one source to these 2 problems. I just need to make sense of what can actually cause this. Battery? Alternator? I don't know. Anyother takers?

If it was the alternator, a lot of your lights would get dim (headlights, dashlights, etc) and if it was a bad battery the same thing would happen.

When my RPM drops really low, the SRS light does dim a bit. I guess this thing is in real need of a good tune up I guess. Hey thanks EJ1 for erthang so far. Any other thoughts?

I had similar things happen in one of my old hatches. It was a amp that was giving feedback into the charging system or something like that. Basically. Anything that is aftermarket that attaches to your charging system or power, just check the connections. Try to narrow it down to the last things you did. Even things that would seem simple.

i am not very familier with the conversion 99-00 climate control do you need to cut or solder any wires or is it just plug and play? if so possible that a wire has come loose and is shorting out? I dont know for sure, just giving ideas, hope I dont lead you in a bad direction

I believe your alternator starts working at around 1000 RPMs, (I'm not sure where I read this, so I'm probably wrong). In my Accord, my lights are dim at idle, but when it gets above 1000 RPMs, everything lights up to normal.

The 99-00 is not plug in play. The 96-98 runs on a climate is a cable climate (when you make it hot/cold it's connect to a cable which makes it cold/hot). While the 99-00 is electronic, and the cable was elmimated.

The conversion was actually plug and play. I didn't have to cut nor solder anything. So at this point the actual problem can be anything. Looks like a I have a fun weekend comming up.

Hmm, the way I read a write up on it.. Is that the 96-98 have a cable climate control, while the 99-00 was electronic.. Maybe I was mistaken.

The conversion only conisted of 2 harnesses which plugged right up to the dash harness, a heater core, an a blower motor. And that was it. Not hard to do, just takes time. But That's worth checking out too. I'm curious to hear more about this feedback that an amp caused in mattssi's post. Maybe my radio is the problem that's causing the Speedo to act up? Anyone think it's possible?

Since it's a radio and a speedo, I don't see how they can be directly related but it could happen I can imagine. As long as you used the correct wires, I don't see how it could be a problem.

the same thing happened with my radio for a week or so. It eventually fixed itself. But I do remember hitting bumps and always seeing the radio turn on and off and my faceplate angle like crazy. I thought it may have been a bad ground or other connection.
