Default Mild build Ls/Vtec. Opinion needed

I am in the process of building a mild setup for my cousin. What i have in mind is

Ls Vtec GSR head
PR3 or P30 Piston
ARP rod bolts
ARP head bolts
Fully built portflow head (is it really necessary?)
skunk2 stage 2 or 1
skunk2 IM
jg edelbrock 65mm tb
jdm itr 2.5 collector header
310 or 440cc injector
hondata (not sure which one yet)
b&M fpr

I'm aiming to get a 11.2-11.6 comp ratio on 91 octane. What kind of power do you think this kind of setup can push out? Looking to spend about $2000 or a bit more.

I'd take the money you have reserved for ARP head studs, Hondata, and the B&M regulator, and use it to purchase the S2 valve springs and retainers that match the S2 cams you choose.

agreed, valvetrain upgrade is a must. as for power, do a search or better yet get it built and take it to the dyno. Dyno numbers vary from dyno to dyno, hard to give a good estimation.

yeah i know exactly what you mean. i'm just trying to get a estimate on if this setup is worth doing or not. i don't wanna do all this and push out like 170 or so. its going to have a hondata and dyno tuned thats for sure. so skunk2 valve springs are recommended? what else really needs to be done to the head

170 with the S2s2 cams is easy. If 170 is all your looking for I would run a CTR intake cam. You can get close to 200 with CTR cams and you wont need to upgrade the valvetrain.

well of course i wanna do a lot more but i don't want to be disappointed. what i really want is 190-200 if that is possible with that kind of setup. Thats why i ask what kind of power will it probably make. If its not gonna make that kind of power then i'm gonna go with a different route

190+WHP from a 1.8L isn't as difficult as you might think. I tuned 168whp out of a stock [worn out] B16A2 with Crowers 63403-2 cams using their springs, retainers, and CROME on a P28 ECU. I'm sure we'll find more than that when he can afford to crack the engine open.
