Default Rate my welds. Give pointers. Please.

These are two scrap 1/4 steel sheets i welded together.
the picture is small and not that clear i know....

Im gona get a better one up tommorow. I just dont have the cable for my digi cam so i had to use my phone instead.....

but from what you guys can see what do you think?

its 1/4 steel. its pretty damn solid i got a 20lbs sledge and pounded the hell out of it to try and break it and nothing.... so im happy about that... the welds look pretty good in my opinion. but i would like some more experienced opinons.

guess what kind of welding machine i used!

Thankfully i found another cord for my digi cam im about to take another pic.

EDIT:
i guess its gona have to wait till tommorow cause the flash on the camera is wayyy too bright and my room is to dark to not use the flash.... so its kinda a bad situation.... ill just post marrow guys. but thanks for looking.

weld looks fine, could use some help on the consistency of your weave/whip

your photography however, sucks.

I think Mig because of the little spots on the bottom plate. Makes me think splatter.

the contours of the bead made me think that it was ER7018 at first, but it's really hard to tell with the quality of the image.

I finally took pictures with my digital camera in the sunlight... sadly for some reason the camera takes crappy pictures when your up close to something.... its a 3.2 megapixel camera but its only good for regular pictures not when your all up close to something....

anyways heres two more pictures.

this is quarter inch steel. its defitnatly strong cause i pounded it with a 20lbs sledge hammer and the only thing breaking was the concrete below it.

ahh and you are correct my friend....

how did you guess.... was it because of how i was talking or did the welds give you a distinct sign?

hey just out of curiosity... do you think i could weld an exhaust system with that? i mean i know i can stick the pipes together and make it super strong but would it hold through heat expansion and whatnot or would it crack over time?

if you use the right rod it will work just fine

awesome... i really like this welder.

i had a licoln mig welder before... and it was pretty good too but it wasnt nearly as strong as this one. and the welds didnt look as this one either... it was a flux core mig welder.
i mean it got the job done dont get me wrong... but this is an industrial stregth machine and it is just bliss how it works... i have it down so well.... and it is a lot faster than mig welding was. to get a weld as strong on this one on the mig machine i had before i would have to be welding for quite some time.... that weld only took me like 5 mins!!

and as for tig... im too poor to afford tig. atleast right now i am.

theres on thing i still have to figure out though. what all the numbers on the sticks are. i know they are what kind of metal they are right? but i dont know what they all are... is there a manual or book somewhere that says what all the numbers are and what metals they are appropriate for?

The splatter narrowed it down and the smaller picture gives it away. Plus cua0 tipped me off

Show a pic of the whole entire weld area so we can see your start and finish. Then we can see if you can lay down a good solid bead. But they dont look bad from what i see. 7018 is like butter. Bust out the 6010 and see what you come out with.
