Testing waters: K20A del Sol
Up for sale my 1993 K20A del Sol
ENGINE:
This car features a straight swapped K20A engine and 6-Speed transmission from a 2002 Japanese Domestic Market Integra Type-R (DC5-R) with with roughly 18,000 miles on it. K20A engine produces 220hp naturally aspirated. It has better cams, a bigger intake manifold, a lighter flywheel, even shorter gears, and a LSD transmission compared to the USDM RSX type S engine which produces 200hp and the stock engine of a regular del sol Si which produces 130hp. Currently the K20a engine sells for a list price of $5600 + shipping. To swap this engine in your Honda would cost around $10k after parts, labor, etc.
This Engine swap was completed in September 2004 by Autolab ( h http://www.autolabonline.com/ ), a local shop in Louisville.
The swap is completely flawless, very clean swap and no corners were cut or 'shortcuts' were taken to reduce costs. Very unique, fast and reliable. The engine is in perfect condition and the transmission has never grinded. Mechanically this car is perfect. Car doesn’t feature P/S or AC even though it has all the under dash components.
Gas milage is a major plus too. 25-30mpg depending on how hard you drive.
Parts used to make this possible are as follows:
- Hasport K20a EG motor mounts
- Hasport Axels
- Hybrid Racing wiring harness
- Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator with gauge
- Golden Eagle Fuel Rail
- DC Sports Acura TSX header
- Custom Down pipe
- Custom steel braided fuel lines (with fittings)
- Custom Cold Air intake
- Stock Type R ECU
- GReddy EVO2 full exhaust
- Custom Shifter box that enables to retain stock center console
- numerous gaskets, hoses, sensors, wiring, and countless hours of labor.
- Honda idler pulley
- RSX Throttle Cable
BODY:
Overall I'd rate the body of this car as a 7.5/10. Nothing really jumps out as a glaring atrocity, but it has its share of imperfections that any car with this age would have. The hood has small scratches on it, the bumper has an assortment of rock chips and scrapes, the body panel above the windshield has large dents in it, the back bumper has a few scratches, the cars been key'd (albeit lightly) down the driver side, the windshield has a very small crack in it right behind the rear view mirror, the driver side side skirt has a 3'' gash underneath it from one of those concrete pyramid things that people find necessary to put in their front yards.
None of this is anything major or anything that jumps out unless one pays close attention; I'm simply mentioning it because I'm trying be as honest as possible with the car so the buyer doesn't have any surprises. To make up for some of this, I have a primered OEM Rear Bumper, and a brand new OEM Roof Header panel waiting to be installed. All these need is paint and all three will come with the car upon pick up. I also have a different set of auxiliary lights that will come with the car, as the stock lights have some rock chips. Laslty, the underside of the hood has a section (1'' x 2'') taken out due to the relocation of the radiator. It's only on the skeleton of the hood and obviously only viewable when the hoods open. This is not a hole in the hood, just part of the skeleton has been removed for 100% clearence.
The paint is still shiny and the car has been wax/wash frequently. Targa top has been lubed with Honda Silicone Grease to keep it in good shape. The targa top is fully functional, it stores easily in the trunk and it has a power rear window
This car has absolutely no rust.
INTERIOR
It has an Immaculate interior, this car is a definite 9/10. The only blemish is the missing factory radio "door" on the center console. The K20a shifter assembly had to be mounted in a position that wouldn't allow the door to fold down anymore, no big deal but worth mentioning. It has the factory green-stripe seats with NO rips or tears. These seats were recently purchased from a green del sol with 55,000 miles on the odometer, so theyre practically new. It also has the factory zigzag OEM green floormats that were purchased NEW from Honda In May 2004. Sadly the car has the cursed door wrinkles that plague all del Sols. The carpet, rear bins, power windows, mirrors, vents, and everything also are all in perfect working order. The door handles each have cracks, but I have brand new OEM door handles that will be included, just not installed. It still has the factory spare tire, jack, and tools.
The only modifications to the interior are a JVC CD/MP3 player with remote, sony x-plode speakers in the front and back, and a factory Acura RSX Type S Six Speed shift ****.
Other stuff:
- The wheels are flat black 15'' x 6.5'' Rota Slipstreams with 205/50/15 Kumho ecasta ASX tires, both purchased new in March 2005, the tread has good life left in it. The wheels have zero imperfections
- Has SRR Lower Control Arms (purple), and a Beaks rear lower tie bar
- Stock del Sol VTEC front upper strut bar
- Koni adjustable (yellow) shocks on all for corners and Eibach lowering Springs (1.8'' front, 1.6'' rear).
- Car has tinted windows.
- Receipts available.
Easily over 14k in this car.
Asking for 12.5k, but let me know your offers.
I accept certified checks or money orders
