urgent question.. wanna know if my car fuck up
i have an h22 insinde an ek currently running a p28 which let me rev over the limit... i was running 87 gas because i didnt know i had to run 91 because of high compression. the h22 rev limit is 7200 but i accidently drive my car hard a couple time and rev over the limit to around 8500 just for a split second. my car is currently running rich and i heard that when it run rich it souldent damge my engine because it shooting out more fuel.. so i was lucky... i was wondering if that was true and how can i tell if my motor is mess up or damage internally from revving to high.. i only drove the motor for about 450 miles..when i rev high it was on 87 gas by the way when i race.. any help is appreciated thx

well first off learn to drive i dont see how you hit 8500 rpms, i could see 7500 if thats what you mean but 1300rpm difference doesnt just go buy in a split sec...... quick but not that quick or
ps get a tach it tells you when you when to shift if you decide to shift at 7200

tuck'd98: 1,300RPMs goes by real fast if you downshift 1 to many gears or downshift instead of upshift. Such as going from the top of 3rd gear RPM wise and instead of going to 4th you end up in 2nd..it happens sometimes.
tr0n9h: If your motor was screwed up you would have known at the time you over-reved it. Just keep an eye out for leaks, smells, etc. But as far as the bottom-end and top-end of the motor..you would have known right then if something would have let loose.
So go drive and have fun

Well I pretty much assumed he had a mis-shift by overrevving it that much. It happens to everyone. I have went from 3rd to 2nd before in a hard turn. I think the way I was leaning while taking the corner..I had my hand positioned differently and pulled it back at an angle instead of straight back. I let out the clutch and knew immediatly what I had did and pushed it back in..it saw around 7600RPMs. Not nearly as bad a 8500 though.

to answer this poor mans questions:
i would do both a compression test (will tell you if your compresssion is up to par)and a cylinder leakdown test (will tell you if you have any sticking or bent valves). You might want to do just a standard tune up to plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change. If you do all that it and you still think something might be fucked bring it to a dyno and have them slap a wideband in the exhaust and see what it's running like for a/f and so on

my car seem to drive fine... im just paranoid.. i check no sound, leak, or funny smell.. if i have a bent valve or mess up something internally wouldent my motor make noise or would not run at all? the guy who install my motor say i was lucky because i was running rich.. he say it harder to blow the motor.. is dat true?
I should have told you to do a compression test just to make sure for the most part that you are ok.
Run a compression test and see what you get.

Yeah... my poor POS d16y8 has been to 8000+ when I downshifted a couple times and was watching the road instead of the tach...then friend said "haha you're way past the redline" and I replied with "oops, ****" and let off. Felt so bad. Now I'm a bit more careful downshifting.
