So Im pretty sure some powers from above are keeping my swap from being completed. So last weekend we got the h22 started and running. This week we tuned the idle and mounted the exhaust and it was ready to go. I replaced the timing belt, water pump, not the tensiorner , also replaced with plugs and wires. Ok so today as I was leaving the shop I was casually drving down the highway when the car lost engine power, the electronics still worked but the engine was dead. Long story short when we lifted the valve cover off we found a chewed up timing belt around the cam gears. What in the hell could have caused this! Iam so upset and am just at my wits end any suggestions welcome
I have to agree with raceACCORDingly, the only other things which may tear up your belt is the auto-tensioner (illustration below) all other things considered.

or the timing belt driven water pump (if you hadn't replaced it)

that really sucks, i had a similar experience with my civic. an engine mount bolt backed out and fell down inbetween the lower cover and the engine and lodged itself between the oilpump housing and the belt, shredding my toda timing belt and cracking my oil pump...
check that beveled washer around the lower part of the timing belt. mine was on backwards and it would eat Power Enterprise belts like they were muffins. seriously. and do the manual tensioner conversion; it is worth every penny.
