Factory Horsepower Ratings
Hi Folks,
Did a bunch of searches and came up with nothing on this one, though I remember some raging debates over the past two years. The question concerns Honda's stated 160hp for the b16a2 and the suggestion that actual whp dynos suggested that Honda was fudging on the hp (closer to 170 perhaps). How was this resolved, or was it even resolved? Were the VTECs just more efficient in terms of how little hp is lost between flywheel and wheels? Not looking to start a flame war; just curious.

Again, no intentions of a flame war. I *know* GSRs have loads more torque period. I just recall some pretty convincing (at the time at least) arguments that Honda feared advertising the Si's hp at 170 would cut into GSR sales regardless of whether the GSR still had considerably more power.
