Default What gloves are you using to weld ?

I was using something like

this, because I like the flexibility they have, but when mig welding, all the spatter burns right threw them. How are these

I see a lot of people using them, and there pretty cheap actually.

Just curious to see what you guys are using.

i'm using something like the second pair, some TIG gloves, cuz i have a tig..lol

I like the gloves, but after welding a long time like a long bead my hand holding the torch gets FACKING hot in them.

Plus they get dirty and firty up my damn gas lens'

I wear craftsman mechanics gloves for mig and tig. they provide almost no protection on the back by i would rather get little burns than not be able to feel anything.

i wear some pretty thick ones like you have in that second pics but as for my right hand i dont wear anything at all. holding the gun for a while starts to hurt my hand. and i also get better control without a glove

I never wear gloves anymore even when mig welding. They just get in the way. Sucks when you grab the wrong part of the project though

I don't wear gloves anymore when I mig, but I'll throw on some mechanix type gloves when I tig because my torch is only air cooled and it gets hot from time to time

I tried tigging without gloves and got a baaad sunburn on my hands and arms so now I cover up as it wasn't too much fun

I got these gloves at homedepot. Sometimes I will wear one work glove like in the first pic in this topic for my filler hand and wear the thick glove for the torch.

I wear some cheap tig gloves I get from the local Miller dealer for 7 a pair. They are super thin so I can actually feel what I'm doing. I also like the extra protection provided by the longer sleeve...I guess you would call it a sleeve but whatever. They sell Mig gloves that are a little thicker for about the same price.

use the right glove for the job
use a padded / insulated glove for the mig
use the paper thin leather ones for tig if not its like trying to beat off with a oven mitt on no feeling or control and your welds suffer

here's mine and andy's gloves.

only Tillman kidskin gloves
the thin leather shrinks up nice to your fingers, kinda like a second skin.
