Default k-series oil filter on a b-series.

i did a search on these but not much was said. just discussed the reaoning behind it but no actually did it (found in the archives dated back in 2003). so my question is, has anyone done this?, and if so, any problems? does vtec kick in harder?

please let me know, my oil change is coming up and i'm afraid to try it and mess something up internally.

A K-series filter will work on a B-series motor, and a number of people have/do run them. The main result is basically just higher oil pressure, and you won't necessarily damage anything simply by using one. VTEC is a binary (on/off) system, and isn't going to "kick in harder" because of an oil filter.

K and B series both use the same oil filter from honda. they discontinued the larger B series filter (also fit about 85% of all hondas) a couple years ago. the current one P/N 15400-PLM-A02 fits all K and B's that i can think of. same thread and gasket as the older one, just a little smaller.

Most all Honda oil filters are the same. Regardless.

The few exceptions are like the Izuzu-based engines, the S2000 takes a larger one or somethin but still interchangable, and the older Odyssey takes somethin different.

Yes you can.. As a matter of fact I run the K-series filter on my b16..

So people stop saying that Vtec does not kick in as hard as it should or vtec kicks in harder...

on the acura side, the nsx has it own gigantor filter, legends and 96-98 3.2 tls have their own, and i may be wrong on this cause we hardley ever get really old acuras in, but i think the first couple of years of legends and integras have a cartrige style filter like BMW.

good call, the only other one that is different would be the Honda Insight, it takes an oil filter about the size of a shot glass

So this increased pressure. Will it increase oil flow through the motor? Being turbo I'm always looking for anyway to get more oil/coolant through the motor.
