Default squeeking steering wheel

hey, ive tried searching nothings come up, i was wonder wats up with my steering wheel everytime i do lik a turn great then 90 degrees it makes the squeeking noise from behind the steering wheel any one have an idea wat it is, i've alreadi tried filling up power steering

possible the universal joints in the column need lubrication

I had this problem, but it was more of a knocking/rattling noise. Anyways, right behind the wheel where it connects to the hub, there is a little ring, its not connected all the way around, meaning, the metal ring is not complete, try moving that around, like sliding it around, thats what was causing mine to act up.

where are these universal joints?

nevermind, if the universals were bad they would clunk, not squeak. anyway, there is a column bearing behind the steering wheel. actually the combination switch (turn signals, wipers) sits right on top of it. it's kinda a bitch to get to since you have to remove the steering wheel and clockspring assembly. i'm refering to my 96 service manual. hope that helps..........

had this problem wheni first got my car....it magically went away after a week or so................................................ .............................
