I know these kind of things happen all the time on motorcycles, way more than they ought to. What everyone always says to me has finally happened to someone close to me. "Its not you that you have to be careful of, its the other drivers on the road."
Long story short:
My buddy from back at home was riding down highway 16 in tacoma around cheney stadium in the left lane, going with traffic. Outta nowhere the right lane came to a stop and several cars slammed on their brakes. The car next to my friend however, could not stop in time so, instead of swerving into the shoulder as an competent driver would, they swerved into the left lane and hit my friend, who was doing about 60.
He flew off his bike and over the car in front of him and landed on his head. They rushed him to the hospital, where he has been in a coma for the past 3 days. The doctor initially gave him a 10% chance of survival. this is because when he landed on his heaad at 60-ish miles an hour, the 2 lobes in his brain shifted. Somehow he came out of a coma this morning and the doctors say he will be OK. All i hear is stories from my friends since i am at college, but they say his body is pretty much lifeless except that today he moved his head slightly and squeezed his hand a little bit. They are saying he'll come out of it ok, he has to have brain surgery to repair the damage to the lobes, but they are not sure how much of his motor skills he will still possess.
I would just like everybody to pray for him and wish him the best and hopefully he'll come out without too much of any kind of loss.
and to everybody else, please remember to always be aware of your surroundings and watch out for other drivers.
Thanks to everybody who read this

He probably was. I don't think you can survive landing on your head at 60mph helmetless.
And best wishes to your friend, hope everything turns out ok.

i go through there everyday too. that highway gets very congested around traffic jam and it doens't help with all the construction going on as well. i hope your friend goes through a quick recovery. **** like that shouldn't happen to anyone.
