trying to fit this thing on a cx. aiming for better mpg. its the fake j's whale ***** intake off ebay
1) it came with a lil strip of metal. where does this go? I know it's to support it, but how?
2) the tube that leads out of the intake, would be ok if it went in a loop? (as seen below)
This is these are the only pics I could find of it on someones car, and I don't see the metal strip anywhere??

</TD></TR></TABLE>it doesn't look like you would need any support...looks like it barly fits under the tower bar

connect that metal piece to the mounting spot of the air box.. .use one of those holes..
then connect the other side of it to the hose clamp thats holds the filter on... bend it and fit it in the hose clamp and tighten it down a lot so your filter does not fall off...
as for the hose it does not matter...
good luck

I know that tube is used to vent vapors, right? I just wasn't sure, if it went a in a loop, if it would hurt anything.. thanks again.

i think the ticket for having a "modified smog device" will run you much more than the amount of $$ you're going to save from getting better MPG.
then again, you'll wind up using more gas anyway with the intake; more air = more gas.

do you mean this metal strip???

if thats the one then the side w/the hook goes under the clamp along w/the filter and the other side you just bent it to a close spot on the car and bolt it down. mainly try to use it to keep the intake piping off of your a/c lines so that it wont rub them and cause a hole or something from wearing it down. anohter option is just to cover your a/c lines with silicone where the intake pipe would sit on it so that it wont do any damage to it.
