i have a 91 hatch dx 1.5L that i a replacing the blown engine. it came stock with the 4 speed tranny, if i where to replace that with a 5 speed would i have to replace the computer with the 1.5L 5 speed combo or are they the same computer?

your transmission doesn't run off of your computer. the only connector that goes to it is the wires for your reverse lights. so it doesn't matter which computer you use since it doesn't run off of your computer.

 

I thought they did? Friend of mine used a 4-speed auto ecu for his 5 speed manual and he had to split the 4th wire or somethin...not too sure tho

 

its the same exact deal, with teh 5spd swap, u dont have to worry about anything, the only issue u might run into is have to wire in a second wire for the reverese light...

all the 5speeds come with a 2 wire reverse signal, some of teh 4 speeds are single wire...

but regarding the motor, its the same...
