I'm trying to fix a wiring mess... the 96-98 cluster wiring isn't different from 99-00 is it?

 

Not 100% sure if there is any difference but I know you can take a 99-00 cluster and install it into a 96-98 car and everything works fine. Whats wrong?

 

Trying to rewire cluster plugs that were cut out... Dimmer doesn't work and Cluster won't light up...I color matched the wiring and still no go.

 

Try checking all the fuses, may have a blown one either under the dash or there may be one under the hood (not sure if there is one under there). Does everything else work properly like the speedo and other gauges?

 

i checked fuses and everything else on the cluster works. i checked the bulbs as well.

 

**** it. I'm just gonna rewire it so it doesn't use the dimmer...

Number One reason why i hate other peoples work... Because i always have to fix it!

 

Yeah, thats like when I bought my car and found out that when the person before me installed there radio they cut the factory harness instead of spending $7 on one from a radio shop. Have you tried using another dimmer switch? Maybe it went bad when they cut the wires.
