Default Changing oil

Should you always use a new bolt whenever you change your oil? I read in my Helms manual that it says to always purchase a new bolt from Honda. Do you do this or is it ok to reuse the old bolt?

Not the bolt, the crush washer. It's made out of soft copper alloy to 'crush' and make a good seal. They shouldn't be re-used.

Does anyone know how much one costs? Would it be a smart idea to go to the Honda dealership and just buy like say ten or so so that I'm set for the next few oil changes?

this will be the way you can find out if you local honda is a dealership or stealership.
If they give you the washers for free

If they charge you 27 cents for the washers

If they charge you $1+

you can buy them online as well. i was about 4 bucks from getting freeshipping once so I bought a crap load of the washers.

I always re-used mine and never leaked a drop.

I just flip it around so it gets even wear thats all...but do what you feel is best, if you leak a drop than change it, if not your set and dont have to spend any money...

You can order them fairly cheap at http://www.handa-accessories.com ... And yes, it'd be a great idea to go ahead and order 10 or so.

i got one of these washers at napa auto parts for..... i dunno it was under $1 i didn't even look at the price was going to buy it n e ways. and to answer your question.

YES change it you'll never get the old crush washer to fit back the way it did, better to just go ahead and crush a new one and not worry about possible problems.
