Not familiar with the trans itself but a dog type trans is very much like a trans on a motorcycle. The xtrac trans is a dog style transmission. There are no syncro rings and the transmissions need to be shifter aggressively. These are not a clutchless style but with an ignition interrupt should allow you to upshift at wide open throttle.
The problem here is when the gears become strong enough and depending on the et level these are probably not ( meaning a hotrod style car) the case will still comeapart. And the case will break even with stock gears and enough power+traction. The only thing that I know of that has proven to be stong enough is the xtrac but unfortunately it's not anywhere near $3800.

from the little bit i know about transmissions. the way the gear is cut, angled or a straight cut, has something to do with the cases coming apart. i belive with the proper angle cut, a cufflink, and a re-enforced stock bellhousing. we might be able to get a bit more life of these transmissions.
we will be trying out the Gforce gearset for the b series in our hotrod car, in the next coming months. waiting on Gforce to finish up the final drive. should be fun with the Longshifter.

hey d turbo how are the legs doing.</TD></TR></TABLE>
i still cant walk... 2months and a few weeks later..... im still in a wheel chair.
about the gforce gearset... it also uses a differant style bearing in the bellhousing portion of the case, on the countershaft. to help reduce stress on the case.

i believe it's 2950.00 for the gearset. not sure on the final drive cost. and something like ~600 for them to mod your case and install the gearset
