Default To those of you guys who have done headlight harnesses behind fender, help lights dont work!

Hey guys did this to my eg, made sure to use the right size wire when extending them, i had to extend both on each side since it wasnt long enough. Well yea i did it and now they arent working, like the headlights wont light up and only one city light is working, the left one. God dman it. LOL I wired the city lights to the turn signals at the one click to turn on. Also the high beams seem to work right, like i pull the lever back and it works on cue, but the headligths stay on even with out it being at two clicks. Has this happened to anyone? Also i took out and scraped the metal where the ground(white box) is located in the fender, where i relocated it rather.

I thought there was a way to do this where you didn't have to extend or shorten any wires???

Well i dont know, i ran mine from the inside cabin, through the grommet for the speaker going through to the door panels. It was perfect, considereing i have the old D series wiring harness tucked inside behind the dash along with the jumper harness for my k series swap behind the dash also. Thats why i had to extend both, i think thats why.

Also on my car, i cut out the two wires going to the white box on the left side headlight harness from the Motor to pump the front winshhiled fluid. Do u think this can be the cause guys?

only thing i could recommend is to go over the wiring again.

undo the loom/tape and make sure the wires are connected where they belong.

Yep thats probably what im going to have to od this weekend.

Also does anyone remember on the right side white box, like the grounding box it seems, I remember cutting 2 wires. I think both went to the motor to push out the washer fluid. The washer fluid motor connected here too right? If my memory serves me right.

The same thing happened to me when I was doing mine, and it ended up being two wires touching through the electrical tape and they were shorting out. I got lucky and found where they were touching. Good luck WIRING SUCKS!

So your headlights are on constantly even if you don't click the ****? Maybe you tapped a wire into the constant power wire? *shrugs

Wihch one is the constant power wire, because i was checking my wiring on the left side and the red wire connected to the city light bulb, originally for the turn signals would be "hot" if you will. While the other side was not getting power. Any idea why??

Honestly, I forgot which wire (color) was the constant wire. I'm thinking it was the white or red wire but don't quote me on that because I did this to my car too. I made my city lights and foglights come on with one click. I remember that there was a thread on here not too long ago with a link that helped with alot of stuff. Let me try and find that.

Yea thats how i had mine wired up, but the wierd thing about it is, that one wire i have connected to the city lights, just the left side.... Is tuned on even when the on the inside of the cabin is at the "off position". I had my car Wired up for the city lights before this, but never cut the headlight harness and extended it before.

Well if that city light just stays on and the inside cabin **** is in the 'off' position, that wire is probrably tapped into the constant wire... I would try to just tap that city light wire into all the wires and find out which one is which and then just wrap eletrical tape around the exposed wires.

Yea i might have to give that a shot, im really just hoping that since i left all the wires exposed after i soldered them with fatty ***** of solder that since the soldered parts of the wires are touching that this could be the cause.

But im still confused theres a constant wire always on even when the switch is off?

Is this right? Because i tapped the passenger side the same way, that same red wire on the passenger side and this isnt happening on that . Just the left. Like i even tested the pass. side with a multimeter, nothing. Just that left side.

That could also be a reason the light stays on maybe... the solder could be touching maybe? I don't know, you have any pics of it?

go back and redo the wiring. main thing is to not rush it. first time i did it, i took my time, and made sure everything was good. but the second time i did it, kinda rushed it and it ended up turing out like **** and just took my longer to do. make sure that all your grounds are hooked up. and that lil white box is bolted to the car so that it gets a fresh ground from the chassis.
