well i got my alternator rebuilt, twice in 2 months. well today the dam battery light started coming on intermittnly. the same thing it did before it took a poop on me the first time.

anyhow while messing around in the enigne bay i noticed that if i jiggle the plugs by where the eniine harness comes in, the car will shut off and the main relay will start ticking.

also when they tried to test my voltage witha batery tester it wouldnt turn the machine on(worked on 3 othr cars that where there right in fornt of me? it would only work with the elctrical probe. does anyone know what might be casuing this.

problem number 2
my suspension is making some wierd squeaky noises. some jackleg mechanic told me to just put oil on the ball joints. should i do that or are they bad and should they be replaced>

the noise started after some idiot hit me from the rear at a stoplight. the noise is up front. also the car just started clicking when i make left hand turns. im thinking its the axle.

anyhow please let me know what you guys think. my girl/family already wants me to get rid of the car, but i want to keep it. help me out with this info so i can see how much it will be to fix it.


i dont want to have to get rid of her.

 

Keep trying eventually you'll get an alternator that works. Everybody I know with CRXs went through a couple after their original one died. Sounds like one of the wires you are jiggling is somewhat stripped or loose in the connectors. The clicking sure sounds like CV joints to me. Clunking could be lots of things. Good luck

 

where have you been getting your alternators from? if you have been getting cheap ones from some auto store then that is most likely your problem. i have had more success from used oem ones then with new ones from auto stores. try finding an oem one. that might help. the clicking is most likely you axle just needing to be replaced. as far as the squeaking noises, it could be a lot of things. not just ball joints but you also have to take into account that you are driving a 15 year old car. bushings are gonna be worn out, ball joints are probably bad, and other things could be causing it as well. i don't think the ball joints would be squeaking though. i just replaced my upper ball joints because they were bad but they weren't squeaking. the ball joints were knocking around inside the boot.
