Buying High Milage s2000......? bad?
Alright, so the boat I'm in, I will only have about 12-16k to spend on a s2000. (The less the better, so I can turbo it sooner) I know I can easily find an 00 or 01 for around that price, but with a decent amount of miles on it.
I'm also aware of the honda motor reliability, but I'm not so familiar with the other aspects of the car. I know the rear diff is weak, but what else?
Anything to look for on a high(er) mileage s2k?
I WILL turbo it in the future, because I won't be able to deal with 190-200 whp lol. So wear and tear items like clutch and brakes and that **** will all be replaced.
Along with suspension, wheels/tires....so basically that leaves the motor and the drivetrain. (mechanically)
anyone with high(er) milage and some hard driving experience want to contribute?
Thanks
Evan
ps...if anyone wants to trade for my turbo integra, feel free

lol
Anyways...just spend $80 on teh car to have it gone over real well to make sure everything is looking ok, the S2000's dont have really any "typical" problems, and certainly none that are brought on by higher mileage...i think there was or is some kind of recall on synchros and also, clutch buzzing...but as far as weak points in the car based on mileage, you are good to go...engine is strong, tranny is strong...differential is really only weak if you are into drag racing the damn thing, whcih is silly to me but whatever...people do what they want.
Seems like with your plans you're going to replace anything of real significance anyways so i wouldnt worry at all about anything but maybe some cracking leather seats (depending on mileage)...
lol

I bought my car @ 69k. Its been running strong and its at 73k now. Just make sure the previous owner has the maintenance records
yea, well ill bring along my compression tester, check the plugs, as long as the motor is in good condition, then its fine with me. ohh, and the body.

My car has around 75k as of now. Its running fine. The only problem im having at the moment is my catalylic converter blew and busted my o2 sensor.
so i have to replace cat and sensor, but besides that everything is good. cars will always be cars and cars were meant to be driven.
