Default hey, im a newbie

hey guys, i just wanna say hi. ive been lookin arond your site for a while but never registered until now. i usually just post on jspek.com or icch.com. i currently drive a 2000 voltage blue 4 dr LS. i just wanna make the b18b as fast as i can without having to do ls/vtec. i wanna stay with the all motor route (money reasons) and if i can somehow save up enough money ill get the engine built and get some boost for it. ill post some pics when i have time to scan them and learn how to post them. later.

Give Carboy a call. They won't be cheap, either, but their work is second to none.

well that wouldn't be staying all motor would it? IMO the all motor b18b is a huge waste of money, save up for a turbo kit and boost the b18b, good luck

Give Carboy
more expensive than jisatsu..but they will get the job done! Carboy=$7k-10k! ridiculous! Jisatsu probably around 5k or less!

Carboy is OVERPRICED!

All motor is mor expensive then going turbo...Save your money and go turbo, anything else is just a waste of money.

From what I've read, the LS engine is better for boosting. It also has more torque than the GSR engine. Boosting will probably give you the best bang for the buck if you have money issues too (who doesn't). All motor is way more expensive to draw power out of.

Agreed LS all motor just won't have the same returns as a good turbo setup or the quick fix of a NOS system.

Oh God did I saw NawwWS? What is the world coming to?

A.

The B18B does not have more torque than the b18c1 (125ftlbs vs 128ftlbs), at least in stock form. If both were built though, the LS would make more torque do to its longer stroke.

Damn, beat me to it.

Nitrous is the best/cheapest way to go in your case. Low on cash. Need to go fast.

Actually the LS DOES have more torque, because the torque comes earlier in the LS where the GSR has none. LS=127ft./lb @ 5200rpm, GSR=128ft.lb. @ 6200rpm The key is that the LS has more midrange

When people speak of what has more torque or horspower, they always refer to peak numbers, not the overall picture The GSR is rated higher so don't f**king sharpshoot me. I've driven LSs and when driving them, it did not feel like it was any torquier at all, despite reaching peak torque 7 or 8 hundred rpm lower. Bottom line, both of these cars have very little torque, no matter who has a little more. However, I'd sacrifice low end for high end anyday. I Used to have a 2.5 RS, what a dog, and it had like 155lbs of torque.....................

sharpshoot you??? Oh the quote, I see.

And as for peak #'s, you're right, but overall the LS has a better torque curve. I'm sorry if I offended you, but no need to get pist I'd sacrifice for more torque and better gearing personally, torque is what gets you off the line, and gearing will help you stay in the powerband

A lil off-topic but, Why everyone wants to rev to 20,000 rpm is beyond me, get a bike

okay
why is ls good for boost? the transmission. put a gsr with 6 pounds of boost up against an ls with 6 pounds of boost. whos gona win? the gsr. ls tranny keeps you in boost longer, but the gsr is still faster.

Actually the B18C has a better torque curve. It's very similar to the B18B curve, but power doesn't fall off until much later. The LS has a great engine, it's just that the GS-R has a better one.

Wouldn't that be due to vtec, and the cam lobe's. The LS doesn't have the cam to make power above 6500rpm. Yes the gsr is a better engine, I never said it wasn't. The LS just has a better low & mid-range torque.

Before someone else comes in here and has more info, I quit you all win, you're all right. I don't know a thing, and I'm sorry I responded :: This is the reason I don't come to some boards, I make a comment and everyone gets fussy. Either I say something that is right and hurts their ego, or I say something that they just don't agree w/. I can't win L8R

a) honda's do not have torque... i dont care if u say the midrange has a nicer curve or the it has a little bit more low end... as if a couple lbs of torwue is really going to make a big differance!

okay

as for this comment... i hope u dont think the ls transmission is better because it keeps u in "boost longer"
the gsr tranny is faster... period!
