Default code 48 LAF sensor

Hi,

I hope you can help me. I tried searching through the forum but didn't find an answer but did find how to check my ECU codes. Thanks

Anyway, I now know that my car is throwing a code 48 - LAF sensor error message. I've pulled the fuse and it still returns after about 15mins driving. I find if I turn the engine off and turn on enough times it goes off and stays off for the rest of the journey and there has been no noticeable drop in either performance or fuel economy at ~ 50mpg.

Honda want £300 for a new sensor. Could there be another cause before I give them all that wedge? For that money, I don't want to be replacing a fully functional part...

Thanks

Its your first o2 sensor. The 8P one. More then likely you need to replace it. Its only on z1 motors.

I did nothing - just turned the engine off and on whenever the light came on. I just dipped the clutch, off, on then jump start (do it quickly at speed and its relatively smooth).

Soon after switching to BP petrol, the problem cured itself

I think that I must have dripped some oil on the sensor which eventually burnt away. I do 100 miles a day so there was plenty of steady state burning off time.
