Default Installed a BLOX manifold, CRX puffs like a smoke grenade...

Like the title says.

I have a B18A, just put the manifold on and now my CRX smokes extremely bad. I'm talking VERY bad. It is to the point of literally filling up the road behind me with smoke so thick you can't see through it. As for the smell, it reminds me of those little toy trains we had as a kid that puff out smoke. There wasn't any noticeable loss in power, and if there was it was very minor. Any ideas guys? I'm getting kind of worried. I know it is all bad whatever it is.

Thanks for any advice!

You use a new intake manifold gasket? Coolant is probably getting in there.

Intake Manifold gasket or Throttle Body gasket.

It could be either the TB or the IM

Also the coolant could help clean up some carbon build up, like steam cleaning.

does that really work? I hear that both as fact and old wives tale.

as stated before look at gaskets

Intake manifold Gasket is probably the culprit. If not, TB

haha well it was sorta joke but I've heard of spraying a mist of water directly into the TB (opened ) and it steam cleans it really good. I've always been a Seafoam guy.

OK the intake came with a new intake manifold gasket BUT did not come with a throttle body gasket, which is probably the problem. But a throttle body gasket would be enough to literaly make my CRX smoke like a damn steam boat???

Yes. That would allow coolant into the intake manifold. Fix it ASAP.

You guys were correct, it was the throttle body gasket as I suspected. I took a look inside the manifold and it looked like someone had urinated all over the place.

Thanks for the replys people...

I had a feeling it was the throttle body gasket, since the one I was using actually was a D16 gasket "modified" for "temporary" use on the B18A. Damn myself sometimes... lol I can't help it though, I own a CRX so the ghettoness is just part of my genetics.

Well I spoke too soon... even with a new throttle body gasket it still smokes hella bad. I will check the intake mani gasket next then... damn it. It didnt start steaming until I put this manifold on there. If the intake mani gasket isn't it, then I will simply shove a grenade into my intake manifold and run.

Check flatness of the intake mani flanges as well when you take it off.

OK the mani flanges seem to be good, but I noticed something that alarmed me... oil puddled up in my throttle body. Anyone have any ideas?

Change the PCV, the modulates oil flow into the TB. The old one probably needed replacing.

Well I redid the throttle body gasket, and the intake manifold gasket, yet it still smokes. Now here is the weird part. It smokes when I start it up, but the smoke goes away. As soon as I start driving it around though, it starts smoking so bad that a car in front of me literally pulled over to let me by. It takes about 1 minute of driving for it to start smoking really bad...

So what do you think could be causing this? It never smoked a bit until I put this manifold on there, so this is getting pretty annoying.

i bet you've got a vac line hooked to your coolant and when the thermostat opens in goes the coolant?

just a wild guess.
