yet another ebay intake thread!
*zips up flame suit*
hey guys, ive searched for my question, but it was never really answered properly.
there are millions of cheapo intakes on there, and i cant really decide on which to get. going off some of the pictures, the IAT sensor locations are at the bottom by the filter? how the hell is that supposed to work with my 96 ex?

^ in that picture, is the rubber thing on the 2nd part of the piping just a rubber plug? or is it where the sensor is supposed to go? if not, are there no sensor holes at the top?
also, if you guys could tell me what ebay intakes you are using i would greatly appreciate it!

i personally would recommend not getting a cheap eBay one and just fork out for a decent AEM or Injen.
these intakes look even more horrible in person. some i've seen with crush bends and some with very bad mounting points that dont even line up.

the sensor location is in the correct place, they just have the intake put together wrong for the photos. the part that is hooking to the intake is actually the short ram part.
as far as ebay intake, its a piece of pipe. if you can pay $200 for a piece of pipe, or $40 for the same identical piece of pipe without an Injen or AEM logo on it, go ahead, its smart. the filters are known to be crappy, so invest in a K&N.

Yessir. Worst comes to worst, you can cap the hole they give you for your sensor and make a new one.

I just purchased a cheap eBay intake last week. I didn't expect much at all since I only spent $25 shipped for it.
I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality and fitment! The aluminum tube is mandrel bent, polished, and fit perfectly. The filter also looked a lot better than I expected, it looked exactly like a K&N filter! I will replace the filter with a real K&N but still, for $25 plus the cost of a K&N you can't beat it!
I painted the intake arm with the same color I painted my engine block and valve cover so they all match.
I have owned two AEM intakes before which were much more expensive than this one, and so far I can't feel any difference between the AEM and this one. Maybe it makes like 1hp less. But I'm not even sure it's that much less.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with my cheapo eBay intake

You're a moron. An aluminum intake arm is going to be same whether you spend 200 dollars on it, or 2 dollars. I bought my intake for 11 dollars of EBay. It bolted on fine with no problems. Anyone who willing spends $150 on a intake deserves to throw their money away.

I still would question the fitment issues with an EBay intake. All the ones I've ever installed have fit perfectly. With the carbon fiber intake, I see no purpose to that other than engine bay bling.

I share the same sentiment on the CF intake. Ebay intake is fine IMO, just get a good filter to put on it.

it dont matter what kinda of intake you get. Why spend $200 on an intake that works the same as a cheap one? All it does is suck air, the "FILTER" is what counts not th tube. Buy the cheapest intake on e-gay, then go out and get urself a K&N filter. It has been proven, "I was told", that a K&N filter will out perform AEM, INJEN, Weapon R etc.... filters anyway. Dont quote me on this though, just read it in another "intake thread" awhile back.
