Default silverstar 9005 or 9006?

i already searched for information before posting. my question is is there a noticable difference between the light output of the 9005 and 9006. it appears that they are both rated at 4000k (,no difference in brightness) which will be fine for me. i am running the stock headlights (stanley). my lights are pretty dim, the headlight bulbs acutally say stanley, makes you wonder if they are the originals, they are getting pretty dim and need to replaced. so far, sylvania silverstars look like my best option. i found some good deals on ebay on the bulbs. i dont really like the other bulbs i have seen out there. is anyone in california running 9005s as the low beams? any problems with authorities?

There's a writeup for converting your 9006(lowbeam) to run a 9005(highbeam) bulb. This by itself greatly increases night driving visibility. So you're running four 9005 instead of two 9005/two 9006. They may be the same light output, but the 9006 has its tip covered in opaque covering.

And no...its not like driving your high beams on all the time because (a) only two bulbs are on and (b) the low beam reflector/housing points the beam pattern "down", not "up" like a high beam housing.

The Silverstars are a nice color but I've read mixed things about their longevity compared to a regular halogen. You might want to look in to that before you drop the cash on expensive bulbs.

I've had the silverstars in my car for over a year. I have had no problems. I'm still deciding whehter to do the 9005/9006 conversion. If you do it, please give some feedback.

i found the bulbs on ebay for a good price. they are about 20-30. i read the fourth gen civic article before posting also. any other bulbs the same as silverstar (4000k)? most of the ones i have seen are 2500,3000, and 3500. i may try coverting both to 9005 but if they are the same lumens, i dont see why i should. i will have to look into it more, maybe email sylvania about it. hmmm the more and more that the 9005 conversion sounds nice. oh yeah, i think i need to adjust my headlights a little, they are pointing up a little too much. i know how to adjust it, just need to lower the light a little

I converted mine it so simple and makes a huge difference. I have done DrDisco69 and 65stang91crx it is a piece of cake I would highly recomend it. The 9005 make a huge diffence and a little dremeling it is a sinch. http://www.fourthgenhatch.com/

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE STOCK 9006 bulbs.
