Default Skunk stage 1 cams w/stock R valve train?

Would the stock R valve train be able to handle skunk stage 1 cams with a 9200 p28 rev limit?

I've talked to a few members on the board, and i've gotten mixed reviews. Some say you'd be crazy as hell to rev to 9000 rpm daily with those cams and on stock R valvetrain. Some say that if you get ti-retainers you'll be fine and can shift at 9000 rpm however many times you want. I too would like to know for sure.

Anything over stock redline is going to require new valve springs, especially 9krpm. If you plan on revving that high you should probably get the stage 2 skunks since they will have more power accross the entire upper rpm range.

Would portflow inner springs be sufficient enough with ti retainers?

2 years now with R cams, springs and Ti retainers, 9200 rpm P72, no problems. I spoke with JG about this two years ago and he even said they have guys using GSR springs and have had no problems with 9000rpm limiters. I usually shift around 8700- 8900 but it's nice having the extra 300rpm's on some autoX course's where I really didn't want to shift into third.
