H23 Trans and H22
I bought my car with a 2001 vtec swap... I was wondering how I can tell if I have the stock Si trans that came with it. Every time I drive it kind of hard I can never get it to stay in vtec. I can rev the gears to 7500 and still it is out of vtec. I believe I have the 2.3 trans in it still. Are there any ways to tell other than how it is driving? Thank you!

I think the 4g prelude axles are all the same, but 93 was the first year for vtec preludes in the US.

the h23 and h22 transmission have the same transmission input for the axle. as in if you took the 92-01 transmission side for the axles, they will fit. the difference is in the length. the 92-96 axles are longer than the 97-01. BASICALLY the motor or tranny you have in your prelude doesnt matter. the only thing that matters is the year range.

I agree, 5800 is a little high for vtec... anyone else second that? this guy i got the car from put some kind of chip in the computer. It is still OBD1 also.. I cannot get rid of my CEL too!! always throws a O2 sensor code when decellerating. also have a vtec pressure code and solenoid code... any ideas?
davwtram, it stays out of vtec shifting all the way to 5th.... think the high setting for vtec is doing it? and how would I go about changing it since the computer is chipped...
