obd1 motor in obd 1 car with obd2 cat? will it pass ref?
i have an obd1 ls in my 93 civic. everything went in fine, its stock and im not throwing any codes. the only thing i didnt have is the cat so im running open header while i find one. i found a couple of obd2 cats but no obd1. i know both will bolt up but for the obd2 i would have to put a bolt or something in the cat, will that fly with the ref and smog stations? do they just check that i have a cat or do they actually inspect it?
hmmm.....it would most likely pass smog. the obd1 motor isn't even checking for the second o2 sensor. you'd probalby have to plug the hold w/ something but idk....
would probably work
but
don't take my word for it

i know plugging it will work cuz my friend did for his pos ford. and since the only is in the exhaust manifold it wont throw a code or nothing but i was mainly concerend about it passing the visual
I have only heard of 1 ref actually going under the car and reading the numbers on the cat. but that guy was a major dick. I really doubt theyll do that to you. You should be fine.
im going to the ref at my school and i know the guy there is pretty cool. i was even going to grind it down and paint it like flat black or brown or whatever would match the cat good. where is the bung on obd2 cats? is it visibal if you lookunder there?
When i went they checked the motor then through it on the dyno. The O2 bung should be right on the top i believe in the front. You could easily weld it up or put a bolt in it if you already have one.

i used an aftermarket cat (oem replacement) to get my BAR sticker. they just looked to see if there was a cat at all. just make sure the obd2 cat is the right length and flange orientation. then plug up the secondary 02 bung on the obd2 cat.
