what would you get...06 rsx (not type S) or 06 si?
No contest for me. I'd get the '06 Si. Cheaper by about 3000 USD (so we are told by Honda themselves... let's see), with just as much power, plus an LSD. Yeah, it's not as pretty, but just like the EP Si (which I own), it can be made to look pretty hot with just a few minor aesthetic changes.

06 si. 197 hp with LSD > 160 hp without LSD.
let's not even start about high insurance. i am looking at 3000 a year from state farm with multicar discount, multipolicy discount, good student discount, loyalty discount, and i think one more small one. oh yeah, i have a CLEAN record. no accidents or tickets ever.

Good LORD!
I pay 2600/year for two cars with a bad driving record thru AAA. I've had a 2-point ticket for 107mph and a 1 point for aiding and betting a speed contest. Along with one at-fault accident.
But, back on topic, I would get the Si. I've driven one and it would be a very fun daily driver.

SI all the way, i would take the Si over the type s, why because of the navi and the 18 inches rims and much cheaper i heard you can get the new si around 19, cause the MSRP is around 22

I doubt it, since its not even up for sale yet. The first ones will probably sell for more than the sticker price.

Drive both then decide. Dont let people on here tell you what to buy, because maybe you will like the rsx better. Also there might be a type r coming out, so you might want that.
Honda = mmm

since ur not going for the type s id say go with the si 197 hp, 6spd, lsd
if u do decide to go for the rsx go with the type s, its pretty much the smartest thing u could do, 197 hp, 6spd, plus u can toss an itr lsd in it
i just gotta say one thing, come on, come on

I would get the RSX type S but thats only cause I've been wanting one for freakin ever but both cars have great potential I think. Even though they are close in horses and performance my opinion is that the RSX is better
I would want to see the Si in person first. But all things being equal, the power output of the new Si sounds really nice and most of the car is visually appealling, wish it was a hatch though.
To answer the question -- BASE RSX vs. '06 Si... I'd definitely go with the Si.
I've felt that the only reason to go with a base model of any car is to get the style & name for less money and less performance. I wouldn't feel right owning a V6 Mustang, for example, and I couldn't get myself a base RSX when I know that the Type-S exists.
If you really like the style of the RSX, then get it. The new Si is the quicker, better-handling car, though.

Not even close! The new Si is projected to weigh 2900 lbs... do you know how much the the type S weighs? I do.... 2840lbs.

remember the base RSX comes with a "not true" i-VTEC engine.
Get the new SI, because you get new styling, LSD 6-speed

I went to my local dealer here in san diego, and I asked about the new Si and they said its not going to be in dealerships until december 1. And they said they'll probably sell them around 22k because they said everyones going to want one.

No less an authority than Car and Driver put those numbers up in their recent preview. Why is it projected? Because the car hasn't been officially weighed, that's all. Believe it... the car will weigh around 2900 lbs, give or take maybe 50. Stop dipping that brush of yours in the bullshit can.
