Yup, you are going to have to do an illegal smog, or find a place that will smog you (assuming you have a working cat and you would pass) and look the other way when you pop the hood. You could always go to some ghetto looking mom and pop type place, ask for a test first to see if it passes, then if he doesn't say anything about the motor and you pass, just have him run it again officially. That motor cannot go through the BAR ref, they won't allow any b20 in a passenger car, since it's a light SUV motor.

well the exhaust system looks like it wouldnt pass so i dont think it would pass anyways even if they disregarded the visual. if you want illegal smog you gotta ask around, its very very hard to find a place willing to do it. i had mine done for $200 cuz the guy that sold me the car promised he would do it for me. but the shop it was done at, they dont do it for the public no more, because if they get cuaght its a big *** fine and maybe jail time..

What wrong with it? Its a fried egg, and I would eat it if his motor were dirty if you gave me enough ketchup

is the "no b20" law in all states? i had a b20 in my old 96 4dr but It was shortlived so i never had a chance to get it inspected.

No, some states don't have emissions testing, so they don't care. Many states that do require smog testing may want swaps to be from the same year or newer cars, but who knows what their specific law is regarding SUV vs. Passenger car motors.

You will pass the pipe if your the engine is A ok, but you will not pass visual! Thats the only thing you have to worry about.

i had a 92 teg w/ lsvtec and smogged it. i just threw in my ls ecu and passed, the only question the guy asked me was if the block was original. Plus i used a valve cover that had the letters shaved off.

I don't know what to do about the B20, but if that's a JDM ITR header, you can get the heatshields for it and then put the stock intake back on and it'll look completely stock. I was planning on doing that and running either a shaven or MUGEN (fake, who pays $800 for a valve cover?) on my LS/V.
