Default just got back from the strip... :(

well i just got back from the strip and i suck....let me start off by saying i was running on my big 17" heavy gunmetal wheels (i know im going to get flames for that but ohwell)....and i have the yokohama semi-drags on my stock rims but i couldnt find my key to get the lug nuts out in time so i had to run on what i had....i wish i would of had my stocks on with the slicks....well here goes the times for those that are interested.....

My best was

R/T - .609 ..... best all night was a .536
60' - 2.526.....i know its really bad may of been the monster wheels...best of the night was... 2.500
330 - 6.594..that was the best
1/8 - 9.888
mph - 75.89...best also
1000 - 12.687....best of night
1/4 - 15.075...others were 15.228 , 15.237 , 15.252
mph - 96.05

and i had jim (trooth on this board) give it a shot and he got the following

R/T - .831
60' - 2.518
330 - 6.648
1/8 - 9.915
mph - 76.27
1000 - 12.697
1/4 - 15.046
mph - 97.57

he did pretty good for not driving an R for awhile...in his R when he had it he got a 14.38 with a cai only.....thanks for trying jim ill have to let you try again when i get the slicks on the car next week

and the only mods i have are

comptech header, hi-flow cat, and exhaust
aem cai
feul rail and regulator (hasnt been messed with)
vafc (stock settings...i have to get to a dyno to tune it before i mess with anything)

oooh any one know how to get those 60' times down?

That is a very good trap speed for a 15.0. I had a much slower trap speed when I ran right around 15.0 but much better 60' times. I dont have any idea how people pull mid to low 14's out of a stock R. It is something that I would like to witness first hand so that I could improve.

I dont think that 15.0 in an R is bad, especially with a 97 mph trap speed. I think that you could be at least .2-.3 fast in the 60' times and hence lower the overall 1/4 time. It is all about going out there and trying to improve upon what you do. You have a good time to improve upon now.

quarter mile time is what the driver can do, trap speed is what the car can do and thats dam high for a 15.0 good job
Does that mean I am screwed cause I ran a 15.0 with a 92 mph trap speed. I had 2.23 60' times too...

I lowered the psi in my front tires, which are rather gummy 195/55/15 Dunlop W-10's, to about 28psi.... I revved the car to about 4000 floored it at the third amber light and feathered out the clutch to avoid excessive wheel spin... all trial and error. I do the best I can and try different things. I sure had a lot of fun though, drag racing is fun even in a Type R. I know that is not what it was built for but it is a hell of a lot cheaper than track time.

what kind of tires are you using? lower the tire pressure in the fron to about 20 psi and this should help you launch better, are you feathering or dumping the clutch? my best so far was a 14.6@95 so i know with a 97 mph trap you should be hitting 14.5's those 60' times are horrible though, i would say practice your launches more, remember you have an lsd so use it to your advantage

well the tires for daily driving are falken but when i got to the strip i have yokohama semmi-drag slicks on with my stock 15" rims.....so it should be better next time around......well for the 15.075 i feathered out around 3500 rpms and the others i pretty much dumped the clutch and got way to much wheel hop...i might try to go there tomorrow and give it another try with the slciks on and ill see how it goes

Your traps are wayyyy up there u just need more practice. Youre 60' seems really high-- suggest launching higher than 3500rpm. I usually launch around 4500rpms or else youre going to bog. Also -- what are the Yokohama "drag radials"?? Do you mean A032's? Those should be good but if youre on Paradas ditch em. Also get rid of those 17"s, at least for the track. Make sure youre a/c is off, blah blah...etc.

Practice makes perfect!! Wish i had those trap speeds good lord!
