Default Building a 9 second CRX, HELP PLEASE!

Hello, we are new to the Honda Tech Community and just recently became a sponsor.

We have purchased a 91 Honda CRX SI and have the idea of turning this car into a 9 second race car. We are pretty well educated on the DSM platform and have had a few cars in the 10-11 second range. This post is so we can document this journey from start to finish and also where we can get ideas and info in building our shop car.

I am not stating it will be a 9 Second car, that is our goal. I will be extremely happy with low 10's also...

First things first, we are removing everything from the car. Engine, Interior, Dash, Suspension, etc.

The car will be on jack stands and I will post pics later today.

My first goal is to tackle the suspension, roll cage, dash, lexan, paint. I know there are some fast CRX owners on here. Can you help by posting some pics and ideas.

Also does anything need to be cut to fit the H22 in the CRX Engine Bay and what do you guys think of the Avid Racing Mounts??

thanks for all the help,

First decide which class you decide on running this car in, and get a rule book.

Check out our car at http://www.speedsceneracing.com and see our CRX that is under construction. We just started a new page called race car project and it shows photos of our car as it progresses. We also show video of the car on the show. We already have the cage done and certified. We have the tin work done, and the fiberglass parts mounted. Still no paint. Right now we are doing a product review on a great master brake cylinder made by Kens Kustom chassi. We are planning on installing a K20 motor in soon. Our plan's are to build the car for All Motor class. Cage is certiofied to go 7's, but we are aiming for 10's.

we had a question about the rear hatch glass. Can we remove the glass and just use sheetmetal instead of Lexan. I think it would be lighter but I am not sure if it is against the rules. We thought it would be okay since you can still see out the small little piece of glass on the back of the hatch..

thanks,

Screw the stock hatch. Get a full fiberglass one and cut out a hole for the lexan. Get a fiberglass 1pc front end, doors, sunroof filler (if needed), dash, and rear bumper. The chromoly rear straight axle setup is a good thing too. Saves a lot of weight. PM me or email me and I can get you some pricing on all of this.

We would like to thank Avid Racing for coming aboard as a sponsor on our shop CRX!

They provided us with Race Mounts, Race Shifter Linkage & Traction Bars
