To all those who want to really know what happens to an engine if you suck up water....most of the time, it ends up bending a rod or rods, sometimes blowing out a hole in the block. Below is a pics of rods i pulled from a 2000 model CTR (b16B) that i got for dirt cheap that had taken in about a liter of water.

Naw, not at all. One rod bent good, since water can't be compressed, and then was able to escape through that cylinder. The car ran only a few seconds, then was shut off. The customer took a big hit on this engine.

Its the camera angle and the glare, its not that bad. You could reuse it, just get some new rod bolts and you are golden

^^^ Hahaha..its not just the angle, that sucker is really messed up. It did in fact nick the bottom of the cylinder wall. I have a complete set of extra B16B rods and pistons also, but as mentioned earlier, i am up grading to a 1.8L.
I think i may in fact use an LS crank and rods for some extra cc's, as well as some P30 pistons i have sitting around which should be good for a compression of about 11.5:1

This should be a fun project.

You sure could fool a few people with your "1.6" block. Why not just go to 1.9 if you're doing a rebuild?

Nice one! How does the crank look? I wish I had pics of the 4 bent rods we pulled out of a motor, that was... special.

now are u gonna replace all the rods or just the bent one? cuz i would think that the other may have slightly bent but its not really noticable to the eye

I'm replacing all the rods and crank.
I got a complete B16B for like $800, which i think is definitly worth the money.

Crank looks perfect. They are known to be very strong. I'm not going to use it anyway.

Hey, just beat it straight with a hammer.

Actually, I'd like to know if it crushed the rod bearings? Not that I'd re-use them, but it would be interesting to know.

I got a full extra rotating assembly from a B16B i parted out last year, but as mentioned earlier, i'm not using any of it, or the existing stuff.

I'm going to run B18 crank and rods with some jdm P30 pistons i have lying around.
