Default CF Hood Dumb/Smart....

I was just wondering would it dumb to put a CF Hood on a Front Wheel Drive vechile? Cause you would be lightening up the front end up would that be a smart move or a dumb move? Couldn't that cause traction problems with you lighten up the front end to much? I see alot of honda's with them but I am just lookin for some information. Just wondering.

The weight loss from replacing you stock hood with a CF hood is negligible, it will neither help nor hurt your performance either way. If you want to lose weight, hit the gym.

Yeah, it's kinda funny like that. You do want weight over the front, so there are better places to shave weight. But again, a VIS hood hardly saves weight. So it's all a mess.

Yea I could understand maybe like carbonfiber trunk lids, back bumpers, taking our ur trunk lining, spare tire, and all of that. But the weight over the motor in FWD I think is kinda needed or your car could be all over the road Lol.

A carbon hood won't really lighten up the front end that much, but don't by any means take out your windshield fluid resevoir if you even have dreams about getting traction.

edit: this belongs in a tech forum

by itself a CF hood wont do anything for performance but paired with other weight reduction modifications you would start seeing your et drop....for people with full interior and no other CF panels, it's just for appearance...

No dude I honesty dont think tis goin to effect anything. That is why I said I think its dumb to spend 500 dollars or whatever on a CF hood. People grip over spending 700 for a bodykit when a CF hood is just for looks. I know its been around for years, but people are all about gettin CF stuff, when its for the look and not anything else.

I think a CF hood, lexan windows, CF moonroof plug, and shaving out all the tar would be the best combination for weight loss (you can take out carpeting and seats, but thats up to your choice with passengers and comfort level). Stock civic hood weighs 36 lbs and an aftermarket weighs in around 14, and start losing 14 pounds here and there, you've got a good amount of weight shaved off, but definitely do it all in the front, you'll lose traction and upset the balance of the car.

The BEST weight loss you can have is taking it off your unsprung weight. Lighter wheels are a better investment than a lighter hood.

It's only a couple lbs jackass you aren't gonna break traction cuz your front is 10lbs lighter.

If you know you're right then why did you ask? BTW Redline Kustomz is pretty orignal, no bandwagon there .

Are you serious? A carbon Fiber hood, although it is lighter than a stock hood, it is not THAT many pounds lighter, do you think that your car is going to fly up off the ground since you've lightened up the front end by a couple pounds? ARE YOU ******* SERIOUS???

NO I AINT SERIOUS my lord. Everyone on this board seems like they have to jump in here and destroy someone if they ask a question that is simple or not to their likings, even if they are asking just for others opinions you jump in here and start giving your opinion on the person and not the topic and not the question. Sorry
