1998 Honda Accord Fuel Pressure Regulator
Howdy,
I just bought a fuel pressure regulator for my 1998 Accord. This was the part that the computer at the local auto parts chain retailer (O'Reilly auto parts) spit out at me. I easily replaced the part, but when I started the car, fuel seemed to be coming out from where the regulator sits on the fuel rack; quite a bit of fuel, really. It is simply metal against metal, and it seemed like it was flush up against it, but for some reason it wasn't right. I examined it, and I couldn't tell if anything was wrong with the part.
Does anyone have any tips for installing these parts? Is there a good chance that the part (Borg Warner brand) is defective?
thanks
Joe

You should be really careful with the part you are talking about... Fuel is combustible, so you wanna make sure you have every single thing in there installed properly, and adjusted right!
Good Luck... and again... be careful brother!!

Isn't there a gasket between the rail & FPR?
Besides, your ECU has no direct sensors for fuel pressure. Your ECU can only throw codes based on rich/lean mixture, or misfiring, or any of 50 other things that it can actually measure. What error code did your ECU actually display?

there's no gasket; it's fuel rail, washer, banjo bolt (fuel line), washer, FPR
my guess is that you left out one or both of the washers on either side of the fuel line.

Should be an o-ring that seals it.

That's the FPR O-ring. I disconnected the FPR from the FR during my tear-down, but don't recall that part. No problems after re-assembly though.
Must have been perma-pressed into place so I didn't notice it.
