i think i know whats head studs but whats main studs?

hello everybody.

i think i know what's head studs, but whats main studs and how can i know if i need them when im building a motor ??

they hold you crank/gridle in.

the stock engine uses main bolts & girdle, you could use studs and nuts just for extra insurance
