does open header cause higher idle?
i just dropped an ls in my eg last night and the cat doesnt bolt up to the b pipe so im running opne header....kinda....it has the cat on. but yea it idles at like 1000, is that normal for open header?
Im not sure, im having like the same problem...but its more like betwen 1000- 1500...and when it gets warm i get an idle surge, im lookin for the answers myself. this is an ls in a 93 si hatch...the ls was in my crx and it ran fine. where are the answers??

Why does it idle higher? That's a weak answer.
On a side note, running open header is a great way to bend a valve. I would suggest getting a header on your car, or refrain from driving it ASAP.

Thats what I was going to mention. Open header allows cool air to get to the engine alot faster.

I know on all my drag cars I've run open header, and have never had a problem. The reason it idles higher is because there's no exhaust piping, cat or a muffler restraining pressure when you disconnect your header its cause the engine pressure to flow better. which im not saying its a good idea to run a open header, but it will not hurt your car with a stock setup..
