Default oil over fill now smoke

ok, i overfilled my oil but didnt notice til after i started the car.. it started having tons of white smoke out of the exhuast. i drained alot out and now it smokes for about a minute then goes away. what could be the problem? should i change the oil, spark plugs, filter, drain all the oil?
is there a good type of oil to put in a car thats old?

also if you put 10w30 in a car that takes like 10w40 will that cause smoke or not.
THANKS

well first off if its a honda it doesnt require 10w40. 10w30 should be the heaviest weight you have to run in it, and 5w30 is actually the suggested weight. sometimes when you overfill like that it will smoke for a while. i saw a guy overfill a porsche (flathead 6) by like 4 quarts one time. after he drained it to the correct level it smoked for almost a day and a half.
