Default Repainting Costs

I know this is a subjective question as different shops will charge different rates and it depends on the quality of the job that I want, but...

I have a 92 hatchback that was originally Frost White. The previous owner repainted it grey (not sure if its PG but its close). The problem is the second paint job was very badly done and the engine bay is still white.

I plan to take out the motor and strip the engine bay, exterior trim and weather stripping, and sand down the grey paint and most of the original white to a reasonably smooth surface. Then I would like to bring the car somewhere to have the exterior and engine bay repainted reasonably well.

Im not looking for something show quality, but I dont want a ton of overspray and orange peal. Im looking for something close to oem quality. I do not plan to wetsand it afterwards. And the option of painting it myself is out of the question as I do not have an enclosed space to paint it.

Can anyone give me an idea of what price range I could be looking at to do such a thing? I would just go ask around at some local shops, but I do not plan to do it until the spring and I do not want to waste someones time until I am ready to have the work done.

Thanks in advance.

for a typical paint job man it will be right around 14 - 1700 bucks. For a good one you can take a guess. I have seen upwards of $4200. If you can get a hookup, do some of the stripping yourself, and get everything done seperately at the same time, then you can get a pretty decent job for right around 7 - 900 bucks. Wish you luck... and let me know what you end up going with.
