is it a dizzy..? HELP FAST!
ok, i need a reply fast, cause my girlfriend needs her car ASAP
she has a 90 lx accord
for the past few days, i've had to have to leave work to go get her car started with some starter fluid...
we took it to a small mechanic shop... where we discovered that the reason it would not start so much, is because it wasn't getting a spark. the cap, rotor, plug wires, and plugs are new
he said its probably just the dizzy itself thats bad.
so me and her dad get a used one, put it on today, and it ran like a champ for a few hours.
i drove it over to her school to pick her up, and on the way it was cutting out, like, the RPMs would drop to almost nothing, then spike back up again. and while i was sitting at idle in the parking lot, they would drop to almost nothing again, and it would almost die. so i get her, and she takes me back to my car, and right in the middle of traffic it idles down and dies, and almost wont start again.
now my question... we dont believe its fuel related... so we rounded it down to 2 things... is the dizzy that we got used possibly just bad?
or do you think its a computer problem?
if neither, any other suggestions? we're really low on money and would like to try to get it resolved in the least about of time and money, thanks for reading.
please help ASAP,
thanks again
p.s...its an automatic, and has around 190k on it if that makes a difference

something does not make sense.................if u had to use starter fluid to start the car as u stated then i would think u have a lack of fuel problem.not spark,,if it was lack of spark car would not have started no matter how much starter fluid u used .......have u had the fuel filter replaced??? it could also be a main relay acting up ,,,fuel pump,,,,,And why do u say you don't believe is fuel related?????...
when car dies does it start right up???? if not u need to find out if it is fuel or spark related........

yes, also referred to as an ignition control module...but if that is the case the starter fluid would have no influence on the motor not starting...
