Default no sound from speakers

today my speakers stopped working.

i was driving around listening to some music, and i pulled up to stop at a park. as of late my subs havent been working all that great, so i inspected the amp wiring.

the ground wire to my amp was not perfectly 'in' its slot on the amp, so i took it off with a screwdriver and screwed it back in correctly. car was off, HU was off, battery was still connected.

i went to go turn everything on and test it out, and i get no sound from anywhere.

subs dont work, front speakers dont work. everything WAS working correctly before, for almost 6 months, no issues.

the fronts are connected to the factory wiring, so its not an amp issue. i reset the headunit and i still got the same thing. keep in mind that the headunit still works and i can press buttons and adjust the volume and such, but no sound. both radio and cd are MUTE.

please help!

okay update:

it turns out there IS sound from the speakers...but very, very little. i can only hear things when the volume is above 29 (it goes to 33). when at the highest setting, things sound distorted like they would at that high of a volume level, but the sound is very quiet.

what makes speakers super dim/quiet?

Do you have rear speakers? Where is the fader set to? And the sound you do get, is it all highs, not just no sub bass, but no bass/mid bass at all? 94

no rear speakers...just fronts and then a two-channel amp and two subs.
as far as i can tell, the subs arent working at all, and the fronts produce a tiny amount of (distorted) sound at very high volumes. everything is at zero; i reset the headunit (clarion dxz545) and havent touched anything since.

Sounds like your grounding out somewhere. Check to make sure there isnt a speaker terminal or speaker wire pinched somewhere because if the actual wire itself touches ground it will cause that.

Although that does not explain why the sub is not working, I would unplug the sub RCAs, [at the HU] and check that no pre-amp outputs are shorted out, behind the Hu. 94

alright everyone, thanks for your help. it was a wire grounding out...the remote turn-on lead and the ground wire were contacting each other at the terminals on the amp. it is fixed!
