I was reading up on the 2004 and the new 2005 TL and noticed that the 04 had 270 HP while the newer ones only get 258(www.acura.com). why is that? am I reading something wrong?

A new SAE test procedure to measure HP was introduced for model year 2006. Some cars are now rated lower because of this, while a few are rated higher. In actuality, the engines are the same, the difference is in the rating system rather than the engines themselves.

 

04 and 05 are listed as same, 06 is the one with the different sae rating. all perform the same.
